The new offering expands Walgreens’ financial services in partnership with InComm Payments. The Scarlet cards are issued by MetaBank and are available at more than 9,000 Walgreens stores, online and via the Walgreens mobile app, Drug Store News reported.
The card will help users build healthy financial habits and earn rewards when they shop at Walgreens, the pharmacy retailer said. When account holders use the card at Walgreens, they will earn 3% Walgreens Cash rewards, plus 1% when they use the card at other merchants where it is accepted. The bank account features online or mobile bill pay, compatibility with mobile wallets, check capture via Ingo Money and the ability to transfer funds for free to other Scarlet account holders.
The new account and debit card comes after Walgreens launched its myWalgreens credit card and myWalgreens Mastercard in partnership with Synchrony Bank. The retailer is among several major companies introducing new financial services that offer cash-back rewards for shopping.
