United Natural Foods Names Chief Customer Officer


Steve Dietz has been appointed chief customer officer at United Natural Foods Inc. (UNFI), effective Oct. 1.

Dietz currently serves as UNFI’s president, Pacific region, a role he has held since 2018. As chief customer officer, he will oversee UNFI’s sales efforts throughout the United States and Canada, Progressive Grocer reported. He will also support the region teams for National, Atlantic, South, Central, Pacific and Canadian divisions, working directly with the region presidents to implement go-to-market strategy while leveraging data, learnings and outcomes.

Dietz first joined UNFI in 2014 after the company acquired Tony’s Fine Foods, where he had served for 15 year in various roles. He has held his current leadership title since the acquisition of Supervalu. UNFI plans to name a new Pacific region president later this fall.

Hy-Vee Appoints President of Perishable Distributors of Iowa Subsidiary


Grocery chain Hy-Vee has named Jason Farver president of Ankey, Iowa-based Perishable Distributors of Iowa (PDI), a Hy-Vee subsidiary. 

In this new role, which begins Oct. 4, Farver will oversee operations, strategies and overall growth of PDI and Hy-Vee’s other manufacturing facilities, Progressive Grocer reported. 

Farver comes to PDI from VT Industries, where he served as president. VT Industries, based in Holstein, Iowa, is a commercial and residential wood door provider, as well as a producer of laminate countertops, butcher block countertops and other crafts. He also held other various positions at the company, serving for more than 13 years.
