Amazon Go is a go
Amazon is hiring a senior real estate manager to execute a strategic plan involving locations for future Amazon Go grocery stores.
According to GeekWire, some of the duties included in the job posting, first reported by The Seattle Times, are site selection, working with local brokers, negotiating leases for new locations and putting together a strategic real estate plan for Amazon Go.
Amazon Go, which provides shoppers a checkout-free experience, is in the late stages of testing, according to the company. Meanwhile, AmazonFresh, a grocery delivery service available exclusively for Prime members, is being rolled out across more states.
Last year Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said he would like the company to continue expanding beyond its massive digital marketplace.
“We’re definitely going to open additional stores, how many we don’t know yet,” Bezos said in a meeting with shareholders last May. “In these early days, it’s all about learning, rather than trying to earn a lot of revenue.”
