Walgreens, Target execs push tax reform in meeting with Trump
The chief executives who attended the meeting include the leadership of Walgreens, Target, AutoZone, Tractor Supply, Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, Best Buy, Gap and JCPenney.
The executives came to Washington to discuss their opposition to a House GOP plan to tax U.S. businesses' domestic income and their imports while exempting their exports. The president said he would be releasing a proposal in the "not so distant future."
The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) issued the following statement from RILA Chairman and AutoZone Chairman, President and CEO Bill Rhodes regarding the meeting:
"Today, we had a positive and productive conversation with President Trump about the important role the retail industry plays in our national economy. We stressed the importance of taking a thoughtful approach to tax reform for both individuals and corporations," Rhodes said.
